Medical Emergency Fund Page for Martha

Miss Martha came in as a stray, when a kind rescuer found her and brought her in to get the care she clearly needed. She was noticeably limping with every step, poor girl. The shelter team took her to the vet, where Martha had x-rays to get to the root of this painful issue. The x-rays showed a previously broken ankle and paw that had never healed properly. Likely this injury happened quite a while ago and has been bothering Martha ever since. The best way to help Martha get a new, more comfortable lease on life is to amputate this paw.

Martha had been gaining weight rapidly since arriving in care, so while at the vet, the team did blood work and an ultrasound to make sure there were no underlying medical concerns. Martha needs a special weight management diet to make sure she maintains a healthy weight. She’s currently living with a foster who is able to provide her with a soft place to rest while she waits for surgery, and a quiet place to recover after.

Miss Martha is a lovely girl. She has been so tolerant of all her physical exams and just purrs up a storm – she’s even been described as a “purr machine” by shelter staff! Once she recovers from her surgery, she will make a wonderful companion to her lucky forever family.

Personal updates for Martha will be provided to anyone who donates to her campaign.

*Goal includes: paw amputation and recovery, special diet, spay surgery and daily care for Martha until she’s ready for adoption. If her medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in her name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
