Medical Emergency Fund Page for Herby

On the outside, Herby looks like any other healthy cat - but this poor guy has been suffering with scary health issues behind the scenes.

Herby was found as a stray by a kind rescuer. He looked so uncoordinated, they thought he may have been injured - potentially even hit by a car. This rescuer brought Herby in for care, where shelter staff suspected something was wrong and knew this little guy needed to be examined by the vet. The vet ordered x-rays and bloodwork, and discovered that Herby has toxoplasmosis, a disease caused by parasites. This can affect vision, mobility and other senses, which explains why Herby seemed so uncoordinated when he was found.

Herby has been on antibiotics to make sure the toxoplasmosis is no longer active, however some of the symptoms have lingered – he still has a bit of vision loss and sensitivity to touch. There is a chance of recurring infection, which means that Herby may need antibiotics to treat it in the future as well.

This character has made great strides from when he first came into care. He can be a little nervous of people due to his vision issues, but once he’s comfortable (with the help of lots of treats!), he becomes very chatty and confident.

Personal updates for Herby will be provided to anyone who donates to his campaign.

*Goal includes: x-rays, repeated bloodwork, antibiotics, neuter and daily care for Herby until he’s ready for adoption. If his medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in his name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
