Medical Emergency Fund Page for Lola
When Lola arrived huge areas of her body had lost their fur, her skin was red and inflamed, and a layer of yellow, yeasty build up was left where fur should have been. As she walked her skin flaked off and she was often chewing at her own legs in discomfort due to her severe, untreated allergies. Shelter staff were taken aback by the strong smell coming from Lola and the scabs that covered her body. There was no denying that for far too long this dog did not receive the care she needed.
As soon as she arrived in care, the shelter team made sure Lola knew she was in a safe place. They showed her compassionate love and even though she was quiet, they could see the difference it was making.
Lola was gently bathed in medicated shampoo to soothe her skin every few days, she was given a course of daily medication and started on a specialized diet to support her skin and stomach issues. She has also been booked in for surgery to remove the large skin tags that formed on her legs and to finally get her spayed.
Years of suffering will take a long time for this senior girl to shake off, but with some loving care her personality has slowly started to show. Lola is finding her spark again - you can see her joy when she's taken for a walk or plays in the yard at the shelter. Feeling loved and finding joy again has given Lola her life back.
Lola's case is a complicated one and we cannot share full details of her past life at this time, but the most important thing to know is she is now in the right place to get the loving care she needs to get back on her paws.
Our loyal friends at Petsecure have been particularly taken by Lola's story. They've generously offered to match up to $3,000 in donations towards her care and the care of other animals who need urgent medical help. Today, you can help Lola on her journey of healing recovery and have your generous contribution doubled by Petsecure.
Personal updates for Lola will be provided to anyone who donates to her care.
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, treatment, regular health check, and daily care for Lola until she's ready for adoption. If her medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in her name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
