Medical Emergency Fund Page for Edward
Edward fought for his life. When he arrived at the BC SPCA Animal Centre staff could clearly see he'd been violently attacked by another animal. It looked as though half his face was missing.
Some good Samaritans in the local community saw the abandoned cat wandering the streets for more than a week with a huge wound and gaping hole in his face. As animal lovers they were very concerned for him but knew they had to be patient to ensure they didn't scare him away. He had been fending for himself and they had to earn his trust. Thankfully, they were able to carefully trapped him before rushing him to the BC SPCA for urgent care.
Shelter staff had to move fast to get him to an emergency vet where his wound could be treated that day as they were concerned about infection.
The vet was able to clean Edward up and treat the open wound which will need four to five weeks of in-care treatment and monitoring. He needs daily cleaning to ensure it can heal well and to avoid infection in his face. He's also been tested for ringworm, we're hoping results are negative but ready to provide the necessary treatments and testing if needed.
Through it all, poor Edward has had to be isolated while he awaits his ringworm tests. He's been a real trooper, who loves his morning treats! He lifts his chin to get his daily scratches and loves nothing more than making small talk with staff while he gets his daily wound cleaning.
Despite the pain he has been through, Edward is still a happy cat who loves his humans. We know he's going to make a wonderful addition to a family once his face has healed.
Will your caring kindness help Edward get the emergency care and treatments he needs to find a loving home again?
Personal updates will be provided to anyone who donates to Edward's campaign.
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, treatment, regular health check, and daily care for Edward until he's ready for adoption. If his medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in his name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
