Medical Emergency Fund Page for Gilly

Gilbert or 'Gilly' came to us as an injured stray who was seen limping around a local neighborhood for several days before he was ready to find help and allow a good Samaritan to bring him in to the BC SPCA. it was immediately clear he had a severely infected wound on his leg with a large amount of discharge and full leg swelling. If that wasn't enough for poor Gilly, he also had several other small wounds at varying levels of healing and he was dirty, hungry and very thirsty.

It looked like he had been on his own for some time. A local vet diagnosed Gilly with a severe infection that was dangerously close to penetrating his bone. The swelling and infection was so advanced that the vet could not say with certainty if the leg was also fractured and whether or not he will require an amputation.... We decided to opt for antibiotic treatment of the infection first, in hopes that Gilly can keep all four legs. It's looking hopeful!

His care will include wound treatment, x-rays, foster care, testing, fluids, medication and rechecks.

Gilbert is a love-bug! Despite a very painful injury and lack of the most basic care like access to food and water, he has been a gentle and loving kitty with everyone he has met. When he went to the Vet Hospital, he was rolling around on the exam table soliciting pets, making biscuits on his paperwork and purring up a storm :)

Personal updates for Gilly will be provided to anyone who donates to his campaign.

*Goal includes: surgery, medication, treatment, regular health check, and daily care for Gilly until he's ready for adoption. If his medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in his name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
