Medical Emergency Fund Page for Deckard

Deckard is a nine-year-old cat who was discovered in an abandoned property along with his sister Dorothy. It appears the previous owners moved out and left these poor cats to fend for themselves. They were spotted in a window and a BC SPCA cruelty officer arrived to bring them in for care.

Little Dorothy was easy to catch, but it took a bit longer to catch Deckard as he had escaped from the property. Thankfully, after some time, Deckard was trapped and brought into the shelter to join his sister.

Deckard has one of the most extreme cases of oral disease branch staff have seen. He has several broken teeth, some with even the pulp exposed which would be extremely painful for him. Some teeth are broken horizontally and even vertically! He also has major buildup and gum disease.

Deckard requires extensive oral surgery with numerous extractions as well as sedated dental scaling for his remaining teeth. This will be such a relief for Deckard as currently, every bite he takes of food causes him pain!

Deckard is a super friendly guy, he loves pets and scratches under his chin. He always looks so sad when someone stops giving him pets! His sister Dorothy was having a hard time adjusting to the shelter, but as soon as Deckard arrived, she completely changed.

Dorothy & Deckard are very obviously reliant on each other for stability. She has opened up so much and has even played a little bit, which branch staff hadn't seen yet!
