Medical Emergency Fund Page for the Mouse

This adorable House mouse was admitted into Wild ARC care after a concerned member of the public found him stuck in a glue trap. The finder contacted Wild ARC and the mouse was brought in for rehabilitation right away.

When the patient first arrived, there were patches of oil located on his back and neck, and the fur on his rump was sparse due to the injury brought on by being stuck in the glue trap. He had reduced appetite and a slow response at the initial examination.

In the days following admission to Wild ARC, the mouse showed significant improvement. His appetite increased and he was fed a specialized diet to ensure he had the proper nutrition to make a full recovery. He became more alert and responsive every day and with several baths, the oily patches on his body were completely removed.

Wild ARC wildlife rehabilitators monitored this patients’ progress carefully to make sure his weight and body condition improved consistently. After a few weeks in care, staff were able to prepare this mouse for life back in the wild.

Glue traps are an inhumane method of pest control and animals that are caught in traps can die a slow and painful death by starvation, dehydration and exposure.
