Medical Emergency Fund for Tessa

After years of being used for breeding, this senior Yorkie mix’s tiny frame bore the weight of neglect, fear, and pain.

When Tessa was rescued, her fur was matted with waste, her mouth filled with broken and missing teeth, and her skin was itchy and inflamed. She urgently needed an oral surgery to relieve the pain in her mouth, a spay surgery, and a lot of loving care to help her heal. Her medical team also prescribed medication to help ease her anxiety, and help her start learning to trust.

Despite everything she had endured, this brave little dog began to show glimmers of hope. As she healed, she slowly began to trust her caregivers, realizing they were there to help her. In time, she started warming into a sweet lapdog, finally discovering the safety of loving human arms. But just as Tessa’s future began to brighten, her health took an abrupt and frightening turn. She stopped eating, grew desperately weak, and couldn’t stop vomiting. Rushed to the emergency vet, Tessa needed IV fluids, antibiotics, and anti-nausea medications. The diagnosis: pancreatitis. It took numerous hospitalizations and expert care until eventually her appetite improved, and little Tessa began to brighten up.

Today, focused on healing in a foster home, Tessa is starting to learn what kindness and proper care truly means. She happily curls up on laps, follows her people like a little shadow, and even sings with tiny “awooooo’s” when she’s excited. For the first time in her life, she’s not a breeding dog – she is simply Tessa, loved and cared for. With your compassion, Tessa can live her golden years free from pain, surrounded by comfort and love – the way every dog deserves.

Personal updates for Tessa will be provided to anyone who donates to her care.

*Goal includes: Emergency veterinary care, IV fluids, oral surgery, medications, spay surgery, and daily care for Tessa until she is ready for adoption. If the funds raised goes beyond the needs of this precious senior, your kindness will carry forward to help the next animal in urgent need of life-saving medical care.
