Medical Emergency Fund for Rover

Rover found himself in a battle for his life – with a bear. Injured and overwhelmed, he must have been absolutely terrified.

The attack left him with a massive, painful wound on his neck that became badly infected. Thankfully, after concerns were raised about his condition and a report was made to our Animal Helpline, an Animal Protection Officer was able to bring Rover to safety and get him the urgent care he needed. Once in the care of his dedicated medical team, Rover was sedated so his wound could be cleaned and the damaged tissue removed. X-rays revealed an old jaw fracture that has started healing on its own. His injuries—and his thick, weathered coat—tell the story of a difficult life lived outdoors. Rover is now on daily medications and antibiotics to keep him comfortable and aid in his healing.

Despite his trauma, Rover is a calm and gentle pup. He did wonderfully at the vet and is clearly a “go-with-the-flow” kind of dog—still trusting, still sweet. Being used to life outdoors, he’s still getting used to the idea of going back into his kennel. It takes a little convincing (and a few treats), but he’s learning.

After all he has endured, we look forward to the day Rover is fully healed and finds a loving home that will spoil him with a life of comfort, love, and adventure. Will you help this brave boy recover from the unimaginable?
