Medical Emergency Fund for Amigo

Amigo, a senior Chihuahua mix, spent his life living outdoors before coming into our care. He arrived with irritated skin, infested with fleas, painfully overgrown nails, and teeth so rotten they wiggle when touched.

In desperate need of medical attention, this twelve-year-old dog was taken to the animal hospital for an exam. His nails were trimmed so he could walk without discomfort, and he was treated for fleas. He was scheduled for extensive dental surgery to remove the rotten teeth and clean the remaining ones, along with a neuter. Being an older gentleman, bloodwork was necessary to ensure he’s healthy enough for the procedures.

Despite the pain he’s endured, Amigo remains full of love and resilience. Since moving into his foster home, he has blossomed—cuddling up with the children, playing with the other dogs and kittens in the home. He’s finally experiencing what it’s like to live indoors, and he’s loving every minute of it.
