Medical Emergency Fund for Freya

Emaciated, trapped in a crate, forced to sit in her own filth—that was Freya’s heartbreaking reality. Thankfully, a concerned person made the call to the BC SPCA Animal Helpline, and this sweet bulldog was rescued just in time.

Freya’s body was frail beyond words. Every backbone and rib painfully visible, her nails so long they changed the way she walked. Freya’s vet carefully put together a refeeding plan, as too much food too soon could trigger refeeding syndrome, which can be fatal. Her condition has also put a severe strain on her heart, and she’s developed a murmur. With x-rays and ultrasounds, her heart is being closely monitored, and she’ll need an echocardiogram in the coming weeks.

Despite everything, Freya’s beautiful spirit shines. She greets us with joyful full-body wiggles, her sweetness touching everyone she meets. Earning her trust feels like such a reward. When she finally leans in for cuddles and begins to relax, you know you’ve done something right to heal just a small piece of her damaged heart. Will you share your love with Freya today to help her recover and leave her painful past behind?

Personal updates for sweet Freya will be provided to anyone who donates to her campaign.

*Goal includes: Emergency vet care, x-rays, ultrasound, blood tests, echocardiogram, medications, spay surgery and daily care for Freya until she is ready for adoption. If funds raised go above and beyond the needs of Freya, your kind gift will help the next animal who needs urgent medical care.
