Medical Emergency Fund for Heidi

Hungry, injured, and terrified, Heidi was running for her life.

Abandoned and left to roam the streets, this large German shepherd mix endured weeks of fear and suffering. After five long weeks of attempts to catch her, Heidi was finally saved. The poor girl had been living in constant pain from a severe hip injury, likely the result of being hit by a car.

Heidi was immediately taken to the vet for a thorough examination, where X-rays revealed that she needed a femoral head ostectomy to repair her hip and help her live pain-free. She is on a regime of pain-medication to keep her comfortable until her surgery date. Having been a stray for so long, Heidi is understandably fearful of new people. To help her heal emotionally, our team has created a behaviour modification plan, allowing her to gradually build trust and feel safe again.

With time and patience, Heidi is slowly learning to accept affection and enjoy gentle pets. She’s found comfort in the company of another shelter dog, Henry, who has helped boost her confidence. Could you share your love with Heidi today and help her get the surgery and care she so desperately needs?

Personal updates for sweet Heidi will be provided to anyone who donates to her campaign.

*Goal includes: FHO surgery, bloodwork, x-rays, medications, spay surgery and daily care for Heidi until she is ready for adoption. If funds raised go above and beyond the needs of Heidi, your kind gift will help the next animal who needs urgent medical care.
