Medical Emergency Fund for Cricket
Discovered hiding in a lumber pile at a local hardware store, huddled up in pain and only a few months old, Cricket was badly hurt. Staff gently coaxed her out, wrapped her in a little blanket, and called the BC SPCA for help.
Cricket was dragging her back end and had injuries to her face, leading us to believe she had been hit by a car. She was rushed to an animal hospital, where her medical team repaired a serious wound on her lip. Her back leg was badly injured and unable to support her weight. It was too swollen to see the full scope of her injury through x-rays, so her leg was carefully splinted in place. A week later, when swelling had gone down, repeat x-rays revealed a break in the leg. Cricket needs pain management, splint changes, and physiotherapy to rebuild strength and mobility.
Now safe in a foster home, Cricket is surrounded by the love and comfort she needs to heal. Despite the large cast on her leg, her playful kitten energy cannot be contained. She adores people and will happily climb into your lap, shower you with kisses, and drift off to sleep tucked beneath your chin. This little one makes a lasting impression on everyone she meets. Even her caring rescuers from the hardware store continue to check in for updates on her recovery.
Today, you can be part of Cricket’s second chance! If you’re able, please share your kindness with her to help provide the medical care she needs to heal and grow strong.
Personal updates for Cricket will be provided to anyone who donates to her care.
*Goal includes: Jaw repair, x-rays, neuter surgery, medications, and daily care for Cricket until she is ready for adoption. If the funds raised goes beyond the needs of this animal, your kindness will carry forward to help the next animal in urgent need of life-saving medical care.
