Medical Emergency Fund for Chantel

Poor Chantel had been quietly living in more pain than anyone realized.

Shortly after arriving in BC SPCA care, staff noticed the sweet senior miniature pinscher was showing signs that something wasn’t right. Not only was her oral health was in very poor condition, but she was frequently dragging her bum on the ground. After a thorough examination, her medical made a painful discovery : the site where her tail had been docked (many years ago) had healed improperly, leaving a pocket of irritation. X-rays revealed that the remaining portion of her tail had curled inward and was pressing against her colon, causing pain  the poor senior girl constant pain.

Chantel was immediately started on pain medication and referred to a specialist. She underwent surgery to remove the painful remainder of her tail, along with bloodwork and a major oral procedure. In total, 36 diseased teeth had to be removed from her little mouth.

Despite everything she’s been through, Chantel has remains a gentle, easy-going girl. She’s surprisingly quiet for a min pin, sleeps soundly through the night, and enjoys leisurely walks where she happily greets people along the way. She loves being close to her people and will happily curl up beside them.
