Medical Emergency Fund for Mila

A painful infection had taken hold of Mila’s body, and she needed emergency surgery to save her life. Now, she needs your kind heart as she begins her long road to recovery.

Thankfully, Mila made it to surgery just in time. Her incredible medical team were able to remove her severely infected uterus and give her the chance to begin healing. Because of the intensity of the procedure, she remained at the animal hospital overnight for round-the-clock monitoring. Once out of the woods, Mila was brought to a BC SPCA animal centre. She needs several weeks of strict rest, as well as antibiotics, pain management and anti-inflammatory medications to keep her comfortable as her body heals.

Through it all, this sweet girl has shown so much resilience. She arrived anxious and unsure, frightened of even her cone. But slowly and steadily, she has begun to trust. Mila’s now incredibly affectionate with staff, leaning in for love after her medications or having her incision checked. This smart little cookie can’t wait to feel her best again and get back to running and playing like a happy, healthy dog.
