Medical Emergency Fund for Mia
Despite her wagging tail and happy smile, Mia has been struggling with a long list of health issues. The first thing her caregivers noticed after she arrived with the BC SPCA was one of her eyes painfully protruding from its socket. The vet suspects she’d suffered an injury in the past and was at risk of an eye disease that could cause her to go blind. The pressure in her eye was causing Mia a lot of discomfort, and after careful consideration she was booked in for surgery to remove it and ease her pain.
Given Mia’s older age, her vet team were careful to run a number of tests ahead of her surgery to ensure she was fit and healthy before going under. This isn’t the end of the care she needs, though. It’s vital to address her oral health and painful teeth, which means more procedures – and rechecking her condition to ensure she’s physically ready. Poor gal hasn’t been able to enjoy her food as much as she used to, but soon that will all be fixed. Will you ensure this sweet senior pup receives the best care possible by contributing to her medical treatments and surgery costs?
Since arriving into care, Mia has been placed on a special feeding plan and diet to help her get down to a healthy weight. She’s a little on the heavy side which puts her at risk of other issues down the line. As she heads into her golden years, she’ll have many more years of playing in the yard ahead once her body feels its best again.
Mia’s joy for life is something we could all learn from. She loves to greet people with a wriggling body and the biggest wags her wee tail can handle. Her excitement for each new day is truly admirable, especially considering her health issues. This little lady won’t let anything get her down.
*Goal includes: Surgeries, bloodwork, medications and daily care for Mia until she is ready for adoption. If funds raised go above and beyond the needs of this loving dog your kind gift will help the next animal who needs urgent medical care.
