Medical Emergency Fund for Tanye
When Tanye’s family’s home caught fire, the 3-year-old lab mix escaped in the chaos. Terrified and disoriented, she ran into the woods where she became trapped in a leg-hold trap.
A member of the community found her days later, but by then the damage was severe. In her frantic struggle to escape the trap, Tanye had torn away much of her foot, leaving behind painful, infected wounds. Rushed to an animal hospital, Tanye quickly had her injuries assessed by the medical team. Much of her foot was missing, and she had also caused significant damage further up the leg as she desperately tried to free herself from the trap. She was started on antibiotics and pain medication right away to treat the infection and ease her discomfort. Already coping with the aftermath of the fire and unable to provide the extensive care Tanye needed, her guardian made the difficult decision to surrender her so she could receive the treatment and a chance to heal.
To give her the best chance at a pain-free future, Tanye’s medical team determined that amputation was the most compassionate option. With so much of her foot gone, the injured leg would never have functioned properly and would leave her with ongoing discomfort. Tanye’s surgery was a success, but recovery will take time. While her body and heart heal, she is also adapting to an entirely new way of moving through the world.
Spend just a few minutes with Tanye and you’ll quickly discover what a special dog she is. She adores people. On slow walks she often pauses, leaning into her caregivers for extra pets and affection. In Tanye’s mind, she’s a lap dog, and anyone who sits beside her quickly finds a loving companion curled up close.
Today, you can help provide the surgery, medication, and follow-up care she needs to build a comfortable, pain-free future.
Personal updates for Tanye will be provided to anyone who donates to her care.
*Goal includes: Amputation, medications, and daily care for Tanye until she is ready for adoption. If the funds raised goes beyond the needs of this animal, your kindness will carry forward to help the next animal in urgent need of life-saving medical care.
