Medical Emergency Fund for Tina
Concerned for the well-being of animals on a property, a caring member of the public contacted our Animal Helpline to make a report. When Animal Protection Officers arrived on the scene, they spotted a young German Shepherd mix, her back leg injured, swollen, and dangling.
Tina was rushed to an animal hospital for urgent care. Sweet but timid, Tina calmly allowed her medical team to examine her, despite her serious injury and what she had been through. After a careful exam and x-rays, they determined she had suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle. She needed a special surgery to repair the injuries and stabilize her leg. She was placed on a carefully structured rehabilitation plan that includes physical therapy exercises, regular bandage changes, and repeat x-rays to monitor her healing.
With strict rest and pain management, her body began to slowly heal—but emotionally, Tina remained shut down and fearful at the shelter. The two-year-old dog had never been off the property she was rescued from. She had never walked on a leash or met new people. The world was entirely unfamiliar, and it was overwhelming.
Knowing she needed more than just medical care, the team placed Tina in a loving foster home where she could receive the patience, consistency, and specialized support she needs to heal. In her foster home, Tina is slowly starting to come out of her shell. Little by little, Tina has begun seeking out gentle affection from her foster mom, her tail giving small, hopeful wags as her confidence grows. She’s even started enjoying short walks (as long as she can stay close, always touching the person she’s learning to trust). Her four-legged foster friends, Winnie and Ash, are helping her find her confidence, too.
Will you help Tina heal, both physically and emotionally, and give her the future she deserves?
Personal updates for Tina will be provided to anyone who donates to her care.
*Goal includes: Leg repair surgery, x-rays, medications, spay surgery and daily care for Tina until she is ready for adoption. If the funds raised goes beyond the needs of this animal, your kindness will carry forward to help the next animal in urgent need of life-saving medical care.
