Just one look at Max’s wounded body, and you know he’s endured more pain than any animal should.

Found wandering alone with his body covered in severe wounds, Max needed immediate, intensive care. How he suffered the burns covering nearly half of his body, we’ll likely never know. What we do know is this sweet cat is a fighter. It’s a miracle someone discovered him when they did and rushed him to a nearby animal hospital. Wincing in pain, Max could barely keep his eyes open. He was extremely unwell and was started on IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication right away. Max required a lion’s mane cut to fully assess his wounds, debridement of dead tissue, multiple pain medications, and eye treatment for ulcers. It was a difficult first few days, but Max fought hard, showing his gentle, loving demeanor through it all.

Now in a foster home, Max needs bandage changes twice a week, with a special ointment applied to help his wounds heal. Antibiotic injections are helping to protect him against infection, and his little red suit keeps him from scratching at his bandages.

Even through his most painful days, Max’s love shines through—he purrs constantly and seeks out affection whenever he can. He still has weeks of wound care ahead, but healthy tissue is slowly returning and his future is looking bright. Now, he needs your compassion to continue his healing journey.
